Grano & Farina - Cooking School In Trastevere & Sabina: what do users think?

Congratulazioni!

Cat Nelson: I can’t speak highly enough of Grano e Farina! I have attending cooking classes, wine tasting and olive oil tastings amoung other fabulous activities with Julia and Pino. They’re attention to detail is top notch and their patience as teachers is outstanding. My sister in law and I lead food based tours through the area and Grano e Farina is always the star ⭐️ of our tours.

Moran Abraham: Fantastic training, great lessons and tricks only Chef can teach you! Julia and Pino are experts in their field and very friendly which makes this experience even better. I spent 3 days at their beautiful home in Sabina. We learned a lot, ate a lot and had tons of fun. Don't miss it when you get to Italy! It was simply wonderful, I came to them for classes and workshops and for three days we studied, ate and enjoyed ourselves. Julia and Pino are highly professional, very pleasant and know how to convey the material in a simple and thorough manner, highly recommended.

esti zeira: I couldn’t expect a better hospitality and a better knowledgeable chefs than Pino and Julia.Their explanations, their patient, their best recipe.Thank you 🙏 Pino and Julia

Larry Dick: Cooking SchoolWhat fun we had at Grano and Farina! Chef Pinto is a brilliant teacher who is incredibly knowledgeable with regards all aspects of the cooking process. It didn’t seem to matter what question we asked, he was able to provide us with an in-depth and fascinating answer. It’s obvious that he is passionate about Italian food, in particular, as well as cooking in general and it was so much fun to have the opportunity to work alongside him. We enjoyed meeting our fellow classmates who were from Switzerland and who had already completed a number of classes at the school…not only did we learn some new recipes and cooking techniques but we meet some lovely people and came to know a bit about them and where they came from. At the end of our class we ate until there was little room left for more and we shared in some wonderful Italian wine. We just could not recommend this experience more highly, especially for those who are seeking a different and unique travel experience, for home chefs who love to cook and try new things and for those who would like to to add to their entertaining repertoire.

rongsted: Chef Pino is a true chef. The son of a cook he knows all I can think of worth knowing about cooking. And in his own relaxed and serious way he shares this knowledge. What a man. Together with his wonderful wife they run all sorts of cooking classes. My wife and I did the risotto and learned so much. Five people attended so there was room for learning. We loved it and can absolutely highly recommend the courses. Best regards, Casper Rongsted

Georgette Nelson: Grano & Farina offer the most professional-level cooking classes you can get in Rome. You will really learn to make stuff like pasta, pizza, and desserts. The instructors are really nice and I've taking several in-person classes with them as well as some online classes. The owners really know food and they are incredibly knowledgeable. If you take a class ask lots of questions because they know everything!

Cristina Rossetti: A high level cooking school but with an absolutely relaxed approach. We took the croissant and croissant class and couldn't be happier! We will be booking other classes for sure!

Jennifer Friedrichs: trip to Italy, I absolutely mean it!This is a step by step class. Everything from the correct way to hold a knife to making the perfect pasta dough! Julia is an amazing teacher. I say that because I am horrible at cooking and she was so patient and kind throughout the entire process! I highly recommend adding a class to your visit in Rome, it is an unforgettable experience and one you can share with family and loved ones on your return home!

Anissa Patel: We have done 3 classes with Grano & Farina over the last two years. We keep coming back because unlike other cooking courses their lessons combine deep technical knowledge with a passion for food that is often missing from the other cooking classes we have taken. For anyone with a passion for food who is looking for lessons that go above and beyond the typical tourist experience this is the place for you. You will not only learn lifelong technical skills but also have a fantastic time!

Dario Di Gioia: Mi son divertito un casino e ho imparato davvero molto. Sono bravi davvero e poi ogni cosa che cucini è buonissima, complimenti davvero!I had a lot of fun and learned so much, they are super nice and everything is just yummy! Big up for these guys!

Lindsey: :

Alla Kalan: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI had 2 classes with Chef Pino and Julia, one in Rome , and one online. Chef Pino is a professional with great teaching skills. He gives you a lot of additional info and practical tips. They both make u feel like home. Definitely take another classes online.

Suzanne Belanger: Excellent class and very clear explanations

Dallin Scherbel: This was a life-changing experience! I have rarely found good bread in the US and learned in 4 hours how to make some of the best bread I have ever tasted. My family and I got stuck in Rome during the pandemic and were under lockdown from March thru May. Thankfully, at the end of May, Julia and Pino at Grano & Farina came to the rescue and safely reopened some of their classes. I went to both the Bread and Pastry classes and enjoyed them thoroughly. Pino was an amazing instructor and so willing to answer questions and convey knowledge. Both Julia and Pino were very warm and friendly people. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Paul Pendyck: Last November we did four pasta classes with Pino and Julia and throughly enjoyed ourselves. Learned a lot but also had a lot of fun. Bringing home the learned skills and being able to reproduce them has brought a lot of pleasure. Being in lockdown, I did the online class for Neapolitan Pizza. Not surprisingly, it was excellent and the pizza turned out fantastic. Highly recommended especially in these trying times.

Anne Kennedy: --the instruction was top notch and delivered with warmth and friendliness. Next up Roman-Style Pizza! During this time of social distancing, the opportunity to learn something new and make human connection is very uplifting.

Theresa Wong: Julia and Pino are such natural teachers and hosts, and generous with their knowledge. This class is great not just for visitors to Rome but also longer term residents like me...lots of good tips on where to shop and how to judge a good meal. We did a solid hour or two on pasta technique but also delved into sauce consistency, knife skills, and peeling artichokes. Altogether a very satisfying, well-organised yet convivial class for anyone looking for a more meaningful engagement with Italian cooking.

Susan Reudelhuber: Fantastic evening learning to cook Italian style with chef Max! Our family of 6 bonded over making several kinds of pasta together, as well as tiramisu! The food was delicious and we are inspired to make our own fresh pasta back at home! Best part - one of my kids has a severe dairy allergy, and Max effortlessly created a safe environment and food that ALL of us could enjoy. A highlight of our trip and amazing memories together.

He made us feel like we were hanging out with our Italian uncle on typical Saturday evening. The food was of course delicious, but Mauritsio was that extra Parmigiano Reggiano on our Italian pasta bowl honeymoon. Grazie Mauritsio!

One Day Chef: what do users think?

Heather Weidner: Had an amazing private cooking class with Matteo today. He taught us how to prepare traditional Roman pastas and sauces. We made ravioli with fresh tomato sauce, fettuccine with cacio e pepe sauce, and tiramisu. First, he would show us how to prepare something and then we would each go to our work stations and prepare it ourselves. Recipes were simple, which allowed us to focus on the process. At the end, we ate what we cooked and it was delicious! Thank you, Matteo, for an incredible lesson and one of the best highlights of our trip to Italy. We cannot wait to get home and make your recipes again.

Madlym Hicks: I have had the pleasure of cooking with David in Roma two times. Each time it was fantastic!! He is funny, creative in his approach to teaching his class, and easy to understand. David takes you to a local market , coffee , then on to his adorable roof top residence and kitchen for his guest. After learning how to make the pasta, we went on his outdoor patio for delicious appetizers and wine. After conversation , and yummy eats we returned to the kitchen to make the sauce. We sat and enjoyed a meal to remember with an awesome guy. If you want to learn from the BEST and be entertained , seek out A Cooking day in Rome , with David.

Angela Cantone: This was a highlight of our trip!! Chef Andrea was amazing and the class was so much fun. Very hands on and the food we prepared was delicious. Highly recommend!!

Kelly Kimmel Bateman: This was my second time cooking with chef Andrea and he did not disappoint! He’s funny, knowledgeable about the region and local cuisine and gave us the best highlight of our vacation! I will definitely return on future trips. Hands down, this is the best experience in Rome! Grazie mille Andrea!

Julie Nise: This was absolutely the most fun thing I did in Rome... Chef Andrea was SO entertaining, everything we cooked was as fun and funny as it was interesting. Absolutely delicious...everything. He followed through with all the recipes, and all of them are things I can easily duplicate here at home. The kitchen was very organized and everyone got to have hands-on. The kitchen is in the lovely neighborhood of Trastevere, easy to find and all designed to create a wonderful memory. Chef Andrea could not have been more accommodating and helpful. Mi è piaciuto molto!! Grazie mille! I'll be back next year for sure. A presto!

Oskar Sebben: Outstanding service, personalised client care and highly experienced professionally that delivers a unique and must have experience when in Roma.

William Snyder: . Andrea is warm, charming, knowledgeable and able to create an environment that is suitable for everyone’s needs. We had a diverse group, some who just wanted to have fun

Taylor D'Amico: Highly recommend! Chef Andrea was wonderful and the food was amazing. My husband and I had a blast - definitely add this to your Rome itinerary!

Gideon Haber: . The pasta we made was some of my favorite in Italy

Mark Messinger: , and I had a wonderful time learning about Roman cooking from Chef Andrea. We got a fun education on what goes into Italian cooking, and what dishes are local to Rome. We made 4 types of bruschetta, tonnarelli alla puttanesca, meatballs in a different tomato sauce, and an apple crumble dessert. I could tell from the pictures on their website that kids were welcome, but did not know just how kid-friendly the experience would be. It turns out Chef Andrea did an amazing job engaging the kids and keeping them entertained and involved throughout. My wife is a great cook and my daughter loves to help, but going into this we joked my son and I were more interested in the eating than the cooking! However in the end, we both really got into the cooking as well and had a blast! This was a very personal way to learn about Rome and felt like our family had made local friends. Thank you so much Chef Andrea for making this one of the highlights of our trip!

Adam S: pick THIS cooking class; 2

Ronald Madagan: Everyone should take this class if in Rome!!

Brendan Doyle: Andrea is an amazing chef! He selected local, fresh ingredients, told us what to look for in authentic local Italian cuisine and helped us prepare an amazing meal. This was the first time in my life I had artichoke and it was amazing. Highly recommend this experience !

PS Hefty: from the states and he was a great coach and teacher

Snowflake Deskmonkey: . In addition to enjoying the best meal you might ever have, Chef gives a little history to the items you will be eating. If you can, schedule this class toward the end of your trip, because the meals you have afterward will not reach the high bar that you experienced in the class. He is an entertaining teacher, lot's of fun. He goes to the market early in the morning to choose the best ingredients. He is thoughtful about the meal. For example: This last trip was "last minute" and I was only able to schedule the class on the day of arrival from the U.S. Knowing that, he created a meal that was easy to digest. It was just as delicious as the other meals we've had there. Don't miss this class. It will be the highlight of your trip!

Dave Farkas: Andre - Thank you for teaching us about regional and seasonal cooking, using the freshest ingredients and making us want to share this experience and our new recipes with our friends and families. Thanks again for making our last day in Rome so memorable.

Daniel Kraemer: Chef Andrea is a great teacher. He's able to keep everybody on task, having fun, and making delicious food. Throughout the cooking class, he kept us laughing and engaged. The place itself is very well decorated with an overall fantastic atmosphere.

Hannah Lesnik: TLDR: This class was our family’s favorite experience in Rome and I can’t recommend it enough. 100/10 stars!!!When traveling with a large family, it is hard to find activities that everyone enjoys. If you are looking for something for everyone, I highly, highly recommend taking a class with Andrea. I literally can’t say enough good things about this experience, but I’m going to try to mention everything. To start, the location is so cozy and warm; it felt like walking in to someone’s home. When we got in, my family was trying to be quiet because it felt like such a chill space, but Andrea came over and got everyone laughing and talking until we were as loud as we normally are when eating at home with the whole family.Only half of our group had any real experience cooking but Andrea was so great at keeping everyone involved and having fun the whole time. It was very entertaining watching my brothers try to clean fresh spinach and whip egg whites when all they usually do at home is boil water. I try to take a cooking class whenever I travel and this one felt the least like a traditional class. It was more like having an expert guide you in creating delicious food while offering tips and tricks than standing around following a written recipe. We also got written recipes to use at home after the class. This is a great class if your group has food restrictions; half our group is vegetarian and some have nut allergies. Andrea was super accommodating with our food restrictions, and we still ended up with incredibly authentic, seasonal food that everyone could enjoy. Dinner itself was a lot of fun, particularly with what felt like never ending wine pairings. After dinner, we tried the homemade limoncello and ended up coming home with several bottles and homemade jams to enjoy for new years. Andrea also wrote out recommendations for restaurants and markets to try throughout Rome during our stay. I will definitely be back if I ever return to Rome.

Susie R: I highly recommend this class and Chef Andrea. If you are interested in cooking and like a personal experience, this class is fantastic.

Frank Crivello: Chef Andrea provided my family with a great evening of cooking and fun. The class was very informative, as we learned about not only the way to make the dishes, but also the background behind each item. Everyone participated in the cooking process, and the end result was an excellent meal. I recommend Cooking Classes in Rome to everyone interested in a truly exceptional experience. Thank you again Andrea.

Stacy Nichols: Great day with Marco! There was a little of everything. We started with a walk to a local market with some great stories about some sites along the way. We returned to the kitchen and began our cooking! It was a fun day filled with stories, instruction, wine, and very delicious pasta! Marco was wonderful. We all felt that we could replicate the pasta at home. He’s a great teacher. A very lovely day in Rome.

עמרי פפייפר: The best teacher in the world!!!.Professional and friendly. It was the best four hours we had in the trip.

Fazila Mohamed Bilal: A talented chef, super welcoming and patient. Cooking class worth the detour. Value for money worth it!

Jack Tu: Booked this class last minute with a friend. Marco provided a wonderful experience; taking us to a local market and making it incredibly easy for novices like myself and making pasta so easily! His enthusiasm and easy going nature made the time go by so quickly that we ended up finishing late from the great conversations we shared. Would recommend this class to anyone looking to cook some authentic Roman food with a local expert!
